It is generally obtained by pressing the seeds and their shells using the cold press method. They are rich in unsaturated fatty acids and vitamins. In order for fixed oils to have therapeutic value, they must be obtained by cold pressing method.

Many essential oils are not used directly. It needs to be diluted and thinned with fixed oils. Fixed oils to be used in this way are called base oils or carrier oils. As we all know, olive oil is a carrier oil. Oils such as wheat oil, jojoba oil, safflower oil, grape seed oil, pomegranate seed oil, bay seed oil, nettle seed oil, apricot seed oil, black cumin oil, walnut oil, sesame oil are used as carrier oils.

Like olive oil, walnut oil, wheat oil, safflower oil and sesame oil can also be used in cooking.

If used in massage oils, jojoba, grape seed and pomegranate seed oils should be preferred. Since they have small molecules, they can be easily absorbed by the skin. If sunscreen oil is to be prepared, sesame oil can be preferred.

If a hair care oil mixture is to be prepared, fixed oils such as jojoba, nettle and bay seed can be used.
